Two men are expected to appear in the Rundu Magistrate’s Court today after they allegedly killed two women in separate incidents in Kavango West Region.

A 30-year-old man is expected to appear in court after he allegedly killed a woman on Saturday night or Sunday morning at Bartlet Simpire farm in Kavango West.

It is alleged that the suspect hit the deceased with an unknown object on the head, causing the victim to die on the spot.

The deceased was identified as Anna Johannes, 30, from Mpungu village. The suspect is said to be from Okongo in Ohangwena Region. Police believe the suspect and the deceased fought prior to the killing, after which the suspect took the deceased’s one-month-old baby before fleeing.

The suspect was arrested after he was traced by the police and found with the baby at Kaguni village along the Rundu-Grootfontein road.

In the other incident, a 37-year-old man was arrested after he allegedly killed his girlfriend, who was identified as Maria Kapweru Hausiku, aged 31.

New Era understands that on Friday at a shebeen at Sikumba village, the suspect strangled the woman to death after a brief physical fight.
