Query: Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry and The Namibia Breweries Limited (NBL) will partner up to produce King Lager. What will the terms and conditions of the partnership be and how will the Ministry support The Namibia Breweries Limited in producing the King Lager?
Response: Agribusdev, under the Ministry will produce barley at selected Green Scheme Projects. The barley are used for the production of King Lager, Vigo beverage and animal feeds. The partnership is for 10 years and is termed the “Barley Industry Development Programme”. Agribusdev will produce barley as per the specifications of Namibia Breweries Limited and Namibia Breweries Limited will pay for the quantity delivered.
Additionally, Agribusdev will be producing the barley, even though the Ministry will support the parties (Agribusdev and Namibia Breweries Limited) to find additional markets for barley by-products and lower quality barley harvests. The Ministry will also continue to develop land for additional crop production.
