A 21-year old woman died on Wednesday night after she was batterred with a piece of wood by her boyfriend with whom she had a live-in relationship.
The incident occurred at the village of Ohengombe in Ohangwena Region at around 19h14 at the house of the suspect where the two lovers stayed.
According to information provided by the Ohangwena regional police spokesperson Sergeant Kuume Abner Iitumba, the suspect used a dry piece of wood to beat the young woman on her head.
Iitumba said it appears the two were involved in a quarrel.
The deceased, Rosalia Shishiveni, was rushed to hospital where she was later certified as dead by nurses that were on duty.
The 26-year-old suspect has been arrested and charged with murder and he is expected to appear in court today at Eenhana.
“These people were cohabiting for three months but they had been dating for long,” Iitumba said.
He further said the two did not have any child.
The deceased hailed from Omwenyekadi in the same region but she relocated to Ohengombe to live with her lover.
