SFC to host final round of fistball league

Swakopmund

Swakopmund Football Club (SFC) sports ground will host the fourth and final round of the popular Bank Windhoek Fistball League when league action resumes at the coastal town on Saturday.

Tension is mounting as all teams want to and are capable of bettering their current positions on the log tables. In the A league division, the first encounter is between Cohen Fistball Club (CFC) 1 and kid brother CFC 2, in what promises to be an intriguing affair.
The second match of the day sees CFC 2 up against old foes SKW 1. With Imawida 1 having beaten both Cohen teams in the third round in June, the German side is the hot favourite to finish in top position after this weekend’s clashes.

It will be a must-win for Imawida if they are to keep their title hopes alive up and should both CFC 1 and SKW 1 win against CFC 2, the decisive match at 16h00 will prove to be the decider on who advances directly to the playoff final.

Only the log leader qualifies directly, while 2nd and 3rd-placed teams must first negotiate their way past the semifinal. As it stands, the Blue-Whites enjoy a narrow two-point lead over their counterparts SKW 1. Should the green and white strips claim victory over Cohen 1 without losing a set, Imawida will claim first spot, so an exciting match is certainly on the cards.

In the B league section, it is a similar situation, with SKW 2 having the best chance to qualify for the final as they lead the log standings by four points ahead of 2nd-placed SFC. In the first match, these two giants will battle it out, although a likely victory for SKW 2 would guarantee them first place.

If the hosts walk away with the maximum number of points at stake, the result could produce an interesting match day.
SFC has already qualified for the semi-finals. With DTS trailing by six points in third place and hosts CFC 3 adrift in 4th spot, the latter still have a mathematical chance of qualifying as they are playing all opponents on Saturday.

A 3rd-place finish would propel the coastal outfit through to the semifinals if the visitors do not take advantage of a weakened CFC 3 line up.
