Local beauty, Ester “Key” Haikola, has been selected as the only Namibian to represent the country at the Miss Global this year.
The pageant is scheduled to take place in The Philippines at the International Conversion Centre in Manila from September 10 to 24. “Based on your exceptional application and your high potential to do well, we are delighted and honoured to announce that you have
been selected to be official Miss Global Namibia 2016,” said the Executive Director of the pageant, Tea Mak in an invitation letter.
According to Key, being a title holder of Miss Global Namibia 2016 is an honour to her and yet a serious responsibility.
“I still can’t believe it and I thank God everyday for such a big opportunity,” delights Key. She adds that if she wins, she would use the opportunity to encourage ladies to join pageants in Namibia, and people to take modeling seriously. “I will also uplift the modeling
industry in Namibia by empowering young girls and help every woman to embody their beauty within,” she says.
Key started her modeling career in 2002 while nine years and has won many pageants. “I have also [participated in a] few fashion shows such as Afro-Cat Fashion Show in 2013 and Unam Fashion Show, last year,” says Key.
Miss Global pageant aims to showcase a diverse selection of qualified female participants in a world-class production, which will represent their culture, intelligence, and beauty. It is about empowering women and embracing cultures.
According to Mak, this year, the event will be an extravagance with 14 days of photo shoots, runway training, rehearsals, televisions interviews and special outings exploring The Philippines.
