Query: What control and preventative measures are still in place in the Northern Communal Areas and in what regions to prevent the spread of foot-and-mouth disease (FMD)?

Response: The outbreak is over and there is no foot-and-mouth disease circulating in the Northern Communal Areas (NCAs), therefore there is no need to put control measures in place; however the Ministry is undertaking preventative measures through mass vaccination of all livestock to prevent foot-and-mouth disease outbreak from occurring in future.
In addition the Ministry is continuing with patrols at entry points as well as at the borders of Namibia and Angola and the Veterinary Cordon Fence to control the movements of livestock and livestock products in and out of Northern Communal Areas.

Query: Are any vaccinations still taking place and in total how many cattle have been vaccinated so far?
Response: Yes the vaccination of livestock is taking place in the Northern Communal Areas; however the number of animals vaccinated will only be able to be determined at the end of vaccination campaign.

Query: What public awareness is being done to inform communities about foot-and-mouth disease?
Response: Community meetings are taking place at end of vaccination campaign where foot-and-mouth disease topics are discussed, with regular information on radio for the public to bring in their animals.

Query: Who do I need permission from if I want to drill a borehole in Windhoek for business purposes?
Response: Within town lands one needs permission from City of Windhoek, and once approved by the City of Windhoek then they can apply to the Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry at the Law Enforcement, Directorate of Water Resource Management.

Query: How many licences have been issued so far?
Response: The Ministry of Agriculture, Water and Forestry through the Directorate of Water Resource Management has issued four licences to the following organizations;
