Hosts Ramblers dominated proceedings in their youth football tournament, held at the club’s premises in Pionierspark, Windhoek, last weekend.
The well-attended three-day gathering drew a significant number of teams from youth football academies and proved a huge success.
Action got underway on Friday with young footballers grilling each other in action-packed mini matches – much to the delight of the appreciative crowd and talent scouts.
DTS Lions Football Club claimed honours in the Under-7 age groups – leaving hosts Ramblers Lions to pick up the pieces for a consolation bronze medal, while eternal rivals SKW Foxes claimed the silver medal.
Ramblers scooped top honours in the Under-9 age group with Silver Swallows and Swakopmund (SFC) in 2nd and 3rd places respectively.
The Tunschel Street Boytjies (Ramblers A) were not done yet as the fired-up youngsters clinched a well-deserved victory in the Under-11 age group at the expense of SFC and SKW B.
However, it was sweet revenge when coastal visitors SFC brushed their opponents aside to claim top spot in the Under-13 age category ahead of second-placed Ramblers A and Swallows A.
Overall statistics show that hosts Ramblers were the most successful team in the different age groups upon completion of the youth football tournament.
