Former WBA lightweight champion Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses says he feels confident ahead of his much-anticipated fight against South African opponent Thompson Mokwena at the Ramatex Hall in Windhoek on June 11.
The Hitman will be the main supporting undercard to Paulus ‘The Rock’ Ambunda’s unification fight against Mexican Moises ‘Chucky’ Flores, whom he will challenge for the IBO and WBA super bantamweight titles.
Moses and Mokwena will square off for the vacant WBO Africa lightweight title. The Namibian veteran pugilist boasts an impressive record of 39 fights, 36 wins and only 3 defeats.
“I was there before – I certainly therefore know the way to get to the top again, and I know this fight will take me back to the top and open opportunities to get me to my ultimate best. I am happy that my team still believes in me and their continued investment in my boxing career. Boxing has been my life and I wish to assure the nation that I will not disappoint them come the 11th June. I will be a delight to watch,” promised Moses.
“This young man is coming to Namibia to challenge a former world champion – I know he is a former champion himself and has beaten undefeated fighters in his last fights but I am not worried,” added a highly confident Moses.
Moses’ handler and Namibia’s renowned boxing promoter, Nestor Tobias, said: “Paulus Moses has seen it all in boxing. He is the former WBO Africa Lightweight, International and WBA world champion, and his valuable experience will certainly come in handy against Thompson Mokwena. I still have a lot of confidence in Moses – he is one of the most disciplined boxers, a very humble man and a hardworking fighter that does not take anything for granted. He is a world class fighter, and we are confident about a win come the 11th June.”
