Query: Ministry of Education, please, investigate the NQA. Why must I wait for two-and-a-half years for an evaluation? They have hundreds of different excuses every week. Does one really need to have a friend or relative who is working for the evaluation to be done?
Response: The Ministry of Higher Education, Training and Innovation appreciates public feedback and would like to thank the writer for bringing their concerns to the ministry’s attention. Additionally, the ministry would like to emphatically reassure the public that all customers accessing services at any of the agencies that resort under its portfolio are served in an efficient and professional manner without any favour or bias.
In the case of the Namibia Qualifications Authority (NQA), the institution is statutorily mandated to evaluate qualifications in order to verify their authenticity and further determine if they were issued by a trustworthy institution and in a legal manner. This is a meticulous process that involves engaging third parties outside the NQA to provide critical information in order to do thorough due diligence before the evaluation report is finalised and issued to the client.
The evaluation process takes 30 working days, depending on a number of factors, i.e. all the required documents are submitted with the evaluation application and secondly, timeous feedback is received from awarding bodies and other third parties. Although the NQA makes all effort to minimise delays, we understand the customers’ frustrations when they do happen and apologise for the inconvenience caused.
In order to follow up the writer’s complaint, we kindly request him/her to get in touch with the NQA and provide their personal information. For continuous improvement, the ministry further requests the public to contact the NQA at telephone number 061-384100, or email: firstname.lastname@example.org, alternatively contact us via the NQA Facebook page.
