A 26-year-old man, Romanus Disho, was brought before Rundu Magistrate’s Court last week on a charge of raping of his female cousin (age unknown).
Disho, a resident of Kehemu Residence in Rundu, was arraigned before court on Friday following his arrest a week ago after a charge of rape was filed against him.
His legal rights pertaining to a formal bail application were explained to him and the court advised him to apply for legal representation due to the gravity of the charges.
The case was then remanded to April 14 for further police investigations and to enable the suspect to obtain legal representation.
He was denied bail in the first instance due to the seriousness of the charge. The State also objected to bail at this stage on the grounds that he might interfere with ongoing investigations.
Disho appeared before Magistrate Helen Olaiya while Tjeripo Muruko prosecuted.
