The Namibian police in the Erongo Region dished out traffic fines amounting to N$1.8 million to unruly motorists between November 16, 2015 and January 18 this year.
This is according to the Police Chief for the Erongo region, Commissioner Andreas Nelumbu. Nelumbu told New Era that a total of 152 fines were issued in the region. He added that 42 of the fines were issued to drunk drivers, while 592 were speed-related summons.
He said drivers were also fined for reckless and negligent driving and for failing to wear seatbelts, among other transgressions.
