A 70-year-old German national was on Friday found dead in a flat he was renting in Walvis Bay.
The decomposed remains of Heiko Morhke – who is believed to have been dead for several days by the time he was found – was discovered by an estate agent who had gone to the flat to look for him, as Morhke’s monthly rent had not yet been paid.
According to Chief Inspector Erastus Iikuyu, judging from the advanced decomposed state of the body, it is suspected that Morhke died about a month ago.
Iikuyu said it appears that the deceased did not have any family in Namibia, where he immigrated to about 20 years ago. Iikuyu said all efforts are being made to trace Morhke’s relatives or persons that can put them in contact with the deceased’s family.
The German Embassy has also been notified about Morhke’s death.
