Having scooped the Most Popular Brand Award at the local brand annual awards last weekend, Namibia’s new clothing brand, Okamannetti is releasing a new product of golf-t-shirts for the festive season.
The shirts designed and manufactured in Namibia are incorporating local fabrics such as odelela, a colourful Oshiwambo traditional material, and are meant to cater for the corporate people who do not prefer t-shirts. The brands Strategic Advisor, Teli Sheya, the brand is highly on demand and executive clients prefer golf shirt and therefore plan to slot in the plea. Sheya adds that the popular brand which has re-sellers in Walvis Bay, Swakopmund, Tsumeb, Ondangwa and Okahandja, will go for N$280 per shirt. They are busy implementing a distribution strategy to involve sellers from different towns to join in as distributors in the country.
“We want to cater for our clients’ needs and therefore plan to do as much as possible to give them what they need. We have much lined up and hope to please local brands supporters by all means,” says Sheya. The Okamannetti brand currently offers men’s t-shirts and hoodies, ladies and children’s t-shirts and tops as well as trakcsuits. The brand is the brainchild of three young local entrepreneurs, Gabriel Malakia, Nambowa Malua and Michael Gawanab, who who came up with it after Brave Warriors coach, Ricardo Mannetti ‘s unique victory run when Namibia won her first Cosafa Cup, a run which then went viral on the social media. This earned the brand an award at the recent Local Brand Fashion Show and Annual Awards. The Awards are dedicated to the entire nation for the support it has shown to the national team.
Since the brand’s inception in May this year, the brand has over 14 000 likes on Facebook. They added that such recognition motivates them to work harder and strengthen the proudly Namibian brand in line with the Namibian government’s “growth at home” strategy. Shirts are available for N$280.
