The third Bank Windhoek Long Course gala will take place at the Marlin’s Club swimming pool this weekend. So far 699 individual entries have been registered.
The action will start on Friday at 08h00 with freestyle, 100 m breaststroke, 50m backstroke and 100m butterfly. On Saturday, there will be longer distances and short events, such as freestyle, 50 m butterfly, 50 m breaststroke, 200 m backstroke, 50 m freestyle, 100 m breaststroke and the 400 m individual medley.
This is one of the last three galas in which the swimmers can qualify for the Bank Windhoek Nationals, slated for next February. The gala starts at 15h00 tomorrow and at 09h00 on Saturday.
Bank Windhoek has sponsored the Namibia Swimming Union (NASU) with N$110 000, with the ultimate goal of developing the sport and grooming swimming athletes to compete at national and international level.
NASU, which has been operating since the 1950’s, is affiliated with the Namibian Sport Commission (NSC) and the Namibian National Olympic Committee, and internationally with the International Swimming Federation (FINA) and the African Swimming Federation (CANA).

1. January 29-30, 2016 – Long Course Gala 4
2. February 25-27, 2016 – Namibia National Long Course Championships
3. April 1, 2016 – Long Course Gala 5
