Reigning champions African Stars will tonight lock horns with bitter rivals Orlando Pirates at the Independence Stadium at 19h00 in a pivotal MTC Premiership clash and a possible win for either team will be a welcome incentive.
As far as tonight’s clash is concerned, Orlando Pirates mentor Lucky Kakuva strongly believes they have no reason to press panic buttons, but he cautioned opponents African Stars to be very worried.

“We don’t have any reason to put unnecessary pressure on ourselves, because going into tonight’s match, the pressure will be on African Stars. They are under pressure to make sure they keep Black Africa in close distance, while also making sure they avoid being overtaken by us, so they have a lot to do tonight.

“On that note, my boys will go smoothly about our usual business and a victory should be possible at the end of the day,” said a highly confident Kakuva. “We’ve been very consistent so far and tonight’s plan is to continue in that form. I have no injury problems, so with the full complement of all my players, I’m confident we should cause a serious upset tonight.”

On his part, African Stars’ inspirational skipper Pat-Navin Uanivi hit back at Kakuva, saying Pirates are in fact the ones under pressure, because they are faced with the task of beating Stars in order to move into 3rd place. “They are the ones who have to beat us and move into the top three, which is something they will have to work very hard for tonight. For us a draw will even be enough, if a win proves impossible. We respect them and equally know what they are capable of doing, but we are ready to defend our ground and get the much-needed win,” Uanivi said.
