Currently sitting third from the bottom on the MTC Premiership log and caught up in a relegation-zone web, Citizens FC will tonight face yet another acidic test of negotiating their way past a highly determined Unam outfit.
Scheduled for the Independence Stadium tonight at 20h00, Citizens will have to pull out all stops and secure a victory should they avoid another slip further down into the relegation zone. But that would prove a daunting task as the equally determined Unam also need a win to move within touching distance of the top-three teams.
Placed 5th on the log with 18 points, Unam are desperately in need of the three points up for grabs tonight, as a possible victory over Citizens will see them move into 4th place – equal on 21 points with 2nd and 3rd placed Black Africa and African Stars.
As for Citizens, a victory will go a long way in boosting their chances of escaping the relegation axe, which has been dangerously hovering over their heads in the last rounds of matches.
Coach Ronnie Kanalelo’s charges must however be well advised not to take proceedings frivolously, as Citizens are on a serious survival mission and can be expected to throw everything in the way of Unam in search of an all-important fourth victory.
In tomorrow’s action, reigning champions African Stars take on rivals Orlando Pirates in the only match of the day also at the Independence Stadium, tonight at 19h30.
