Bank Windhoek is sponsoring the Walvis Bay Golf Club Corporate League to the tune of N$20 000, with golfers teeing off on the 20th of this month while the finals are slated for April next year.
A total of 18 teams of three players each have so far entered the competition with the winner to walk away with a handsome cash prize of N$5 000. Entry fee is N$3 000 per team. “The purpose of the league is to raise money for much needed renovations at the club while at the same time also provide opportunities for networking between members of the club,” said Jans Stander, branch manager of Bank Windhoek in Walvis Bay.
Stander added that teams are required to have B and C division gofers in their squads. “A team can consist of A, B and C division golfers or two B division players plus a C division golfer, while no team should have two A division players in their line-up.”
The primary reason is to give the higher division golfers the opportunity to play with B and C division golfers. Golfers with a course par of below 9 are considered A division, while those with a par of between 10 and 18 are classified as B division golfers. C division golfers are those with a par of 19 and higher.
“With this unique league we would like to engage with our stakeholders and potential clients to help to give back to our community,” Stander said.
