FNB Orlando Pirates striker Terdius Useb remains on course to wrestle the coveted MTC Premiership Golden Boot Award from former team-mate Nicky ‘Tornado’ Musambani.
Useb currently leads the goal-scoring charts with an astonishing tally of nine goals and looks destined to set a new goal scoring record in the customary low-rate goal scoring history of the country’s flagship league.
With four matches to go before the turn of the first round, his nine goal tally is just six goals short of Musambani’s haul of 15 goals last season. Should he continue with his goal scoring form, he is a sure bet to tumble the current record of 27, set by Zambian import, lethal former Civics goal-poacher William Chilufwya in 2004/2005.
Tigers’ Mapenzi Munavei is placed second – three strikes off the pace with United Stars’ Simeon Willibard, Upangisa Ujaha (Unam) and Mighty Gunners’ Uaundjaorure Nakambare in joint third place, with five goals apiece.
The quartet of Muna Katupose (BA), Abasolom Liimbondi (Tigers), Ambonde Mwaala (Mighty Gunners) and Edmund Kambanda (Unam) is adrift in 4th place with four goals each.
A total of twelve players share fifth spot with three goals apiece, while last season’s top goal scorer Musambani, could only manage a worrisome return of a single strike in 990 minutes of action.
