Vice-President Dr Nickey Iyambo has lost his mother, Kuku Linda Niikunde Johannes, at the celebrated age of 118 years in Onayena Village in the Oshikoto Region. Acting permanent secretary in the Ministry of Information and Communication Technology Rosalia Penda announced that Johannes died on Tuesday last week. Penda said she was a patriotic citizen, acknowledged as a war veteran for her immense contribution to the liberation struggle of Namibia. She was born on December 2, 1897 in the Omangundu Village in northern Namibia, to a family of five girls and three boys. She leaves behind two sons and three daughters.
Her memorial service will be held this Friday, October 23, at her homestead, followed by the burial on Saturday at the family cemetery at Onayena Village.
