A 25-year-old man from Thipanana village in Mukwe Constituency died after he was allegedly hacked in the head by his brother.
Detective Chief Inspector Chrispin Mubebo confirmed over the weekend that the victim was struck in the head with a garden hoe by his biological brother while he was asleep.
He was rushed to Andara healthcentre by other family members, where he died from severe head trauma. The incident has shocked residents of Thipanana village and reportedly happened between 20h00 to 21h00 on Saturday night.
The deceased has been identified as Twapwa Thirumbu, 25. The police are still trying to ascertain what triggered the attack on him.
The suspect, who is said to be 19-years-old, was arrested by the Divundu Police and he is expected to appear in court today for murder. “We are investigating the case and the suspect is in custody,” said the seasoned investigator.
The police are also investigating a case of culpable homicide after an adult male was found dead on the road. It is alleged he was killed in a hit-and-run incident involving an unknown vehicle.
The incident happened on Saturday at around 19h00 at Makandu village along the Trans-Zambezi Highway, east of Rundu in the Ndonga Linena Constituency of Kavango East Region. The deceased was identified as Antonio Vasco, 77, an Angolan male.
The police are calling on the public to come forth if they have any information that could help with the ongoing investigation.
