Namibian aspiring model, Salmi Magano Nambinga, is ready to bring the crown home when she competes in the Face of Beauty International (FBI) beauty pageant this Sunday in Taiwan
“It’s exciting at the moment but nerve-wracking at the same time, since it requires lots of preparations,” says she adding that beauty pageants are a symbol of uniting nations and bring peace among women across the world, therefore this is a great opportunity for her to learn more about the modeling world from other contestants and be able to share her experience with other young models. “I believe all young women are perfect and beautiful in their unique way,” says she.
She adds that, if she wins the title she will travel to different areas in Namibia and around the globe to carry out charity works, speak for awareness occasions, and even crown national titleholders. “Winning FBI will be a full-time job, thus full attendance is the first responsibility of a titleholder,” she says.
“One thing I like about international modeling events is you known for being yourself, workshop which further develops the young contestant’s confidence and friendships, and looking forward to various activities such as Sport Day, Touring Days, Fashion Shows, and Group Activities,” says Salmi.
Salmi was born and bred in Oshakati and completed her Grade 12 at Gabriel Taapopi Senior Secondary School in the Oshana region. She is a Bachelor of Accounting (Honours) graduate of the University of Namibia (Unam) and also has a Diploma in Government Studies, also from Unam. She started working as an Accountant at L.Robson Chartered Accountant and is currently a Senior Administrator at the Roads Authority.
She started her modeling journey in 2012 by participating in small pageants and modeling events. Last year she won Miss Katutura Expo and in 2013 took part in the Face of Namibia beauty pageant coveting the sixth spot. The same year she also represented Namibia at Miss Heritage World in Lesotho.
