An Interpol National Central Bureau (NCB) operation conducted from August 27 to 28 and coordinated with customs service agents in Oshana and Ohangwena regions seized 15 000 counterfeit items valued at N$6.5 million.
The police spokesperson, Inspector Slogan Matheus, confirmed the bust.
Matheus said that 10 illegal immigrants were arrested during the operation for attempting to bribe a police officer with N$10 000.
Counterfeit goods confiscated include perfume and pirated products of popular brands such as Levi’s and Nike.
The last operation to seize counterfeit goods was carried out in June this year, targeting all regions.
This is however the first time a seizure of this value has been made in two regions only.
