A general worker yesterday led members of the City Police to a riverbed in Wanaheda, where they discovered a foetus that was apparently dumped there in the early hours of Monday morning. Investigators said it appears the perpetrator returned to the spot at daybreak to lay a rock over the plastic bag wherein she hid the foetus before placing it in a small hole next to a footpath. A bloodstained, yellow sports jersey was found at the scene. The police are now searching for the woman, who attempted to conceal her pregnancy by discarding the foetus. Police sources said during the month of July no less than six babies were found dumped by would-be-mothers in and around Windhoek.
