President and AR agree way forward on land

The much-anticipated meeting between President Hage Geingob and leaders of the Affirmative Repositioning movement has resulted in seven resolutions being agreed upon on how to address the land crisis in the country.

Among these is a plan to immediately service 200 000 plots of land countrywide. The period between July 29 and August 5 will be dedicated to a nationwide clearance of identified urban land, the two parties said in a joint statement issued today (Friday).

It is not clear if, with these resolutions, AR will call off nationwide mass land occupations it had scheduled for July 31.
