The Young Brave Gladiators will have to dust themselves off and produce a brave display of their footballing skills when they face DR Congo in two weeks’ time.
The team’s 2015 CAF U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament campaign got off to a rocky start, when they lost 4-0 to DR Congo on Sunday afternoon.
The Namibian team was 3-0 down at halftime, as DR Congo got their first goal after four minutes from Nathalie Boyengwa; Joelle Mwadi then scored on 13 minutes and Flavie Mawete put the ball in the net after 44 minutes.
Mwadi then got her second of the day six minutes after the restart to complete a comprehensive 4-0 victory for DR Congo at the Tata Raphael Stadium in Kinshasa.
The Namibian team arrived back home on Tuesday and will face DR Congo again on the return leg on the weekend of July 24-26 in Windhoek.
The 2015 CAF U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament is a football competition, which acts as qualification to the 2016 FIFA U-20 Women’s World Cup for the Confederation of African Football (CAF), with the top two teams qualifying for the final tournament in Papua New Guinea.
This is the eighth edition of the CAF U-20 Women’s World Cup Qualifying Tournament, which is held every two years.
