Namibian Police Force (NamPol) teams from the forensic and investigation units are putting clues together after the body of a white male was found inside an abandoned vehicle yesterday.
Members of the public informed the police earlier yesterday that a car was spotted next to the Kupferberg Road with its doors wide open. Police arrived on the scene minutes later and found the body and they are still searching for the second person that was possibly with the deceased.
Khomas Regional Crime Coordinator Deputy Commissioner Silvanus Nghishidimbwa informed the media that circumstances surrounding the incident were sketchy, as all information still had to be processed before any conclusions could be reached.
Commissioner Sylvanus Nghishindimbwa told New Era the deceased has been identified as 44-year-old Marius Christo Mostert and his next of kin have been informed.
While details are sketchy, NamPol Deputy Commissioner Edwin Kanguatjivi said it seems the deceased was shot, as bullet wounds could be seen on his body.
However, he said they are still waiting for the post-mortem report to establish the exact cause of death.
It was further revealed that a male passerby, who also reported the incident to a mobile police station in the area, saw a woman close to the scene where the body was discovered.
The mystery man has, however, disappeared with the woman who is suspected to have been in the company of the deceased.
Police are requesting either the man, who reported the incident, or the woman to come forward to assist the police with investigations.
Police suspect foul play, as no weapon was found on the scene, and investigations continue.
Police further called on the public with information to contact him on the following telephone number, 061-209 4221 or alternatively at 081127 5510 or 081 338 5358 or the Windhoek Serious Crime Unit Commander Chief Inspector Sackarias Amakali at 061-2094302.
