WINDHOEK-The National Youth Council (NYC) of Namibia is inviting all the youths to join it in celebrating Namibian Youth Day next Monday.
The Day will be celebrated under the theme, Youth Celebrating 25 years of Successful Independence and Democracy, at the Katutura Youth Complex. According to the organisers, they chose the venue in Katutura because the majority of young people are living in the heart of Katutura, and they would like to make sure that all of them attend. Transport will be provided to pick young people from different bus stops in Katutura and lunch will be served. “We are expecting around 500 young people to attend. After the official opening ceremony, we will have an exhibition of different youth organisations and any other organisations that provided services to the youth,” says Michael Mulunga, one of the officials the NYC.
Mulunga further informs that they have invited different youth organisations to give them a platform for the youths to learn about these different organisations and the different services they provide for the youths. He adds that they have also decided to decentralise the event to all the 14 regions in the country. “So each region is hosting its own youth day celebrations. This will ensure that all the young people in the 14 regions are included when it comes to the celebrations. This event is also special because Namibia is celebrating its 25 years of independence. This will reflect on youth development in Namibia over the past 25 years,” Mulunga concludes.
