Winds of change at Simonis Storm Securities

WINDHOEK – Namibian stockbrokerage and investment research firm Simonis Storm Securities (SSS) is undergoing various changes, with Andrew Jansen, who has worked as the managing director, now heading Lexus Securities – the holding company of SSS. Bruce Hansen, who has been the director for money and capital markets since 2006, has taken over as the managing director of SSS.

Lexus Securities, a wholly Namibian financial company, also owns the Hugo Hahn, Arysteq Financial Services and a minority stake in Specialist Administration Services. SSS’ partners include Investec Securities, Renaissance Capital BJM, Bank of America Merrill Lynch, ABSA Capital and Peregrine Securities.

“This shift is something that we have diligently planned in order to avail me more time to grow and expand the business and continue making a significant contribution to the financial sector and Namibia as a whole,” says Jansen.

The changes were effected on February 1 this year.
Jansen is known in the industry for his leadership, financial acumen and creativity. At the time when he took over the reigns as managing director, Simonis Storm was a branch of a multinational company. Jansen was instrumental in the company’s transformation and transition into an independent Namibian owned financial services company.
He was also responsible for the establishment of a market leading research function within Simonis Storm, and grew the company assets under management over the last 13 years almost tenfold.

“I am extremely proud of Bruce’s achievements as the Money Market and Capital Director. He has proven to be an asset to the business and I trust that he is not only very capable but also the right person to lead Simonis Storm into its new season. In addition, he is diligent and a great listener, which allows him to discern client needs,” Jansen said.
