WINDHOEK – With Namibia preparing to celebrate its 25th independence anniversary this Saturday, South African former world champion Malcolm ‘Stone’ Klassen says he is on a mission to spoil the Namibian party by defeating Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses on home soil on Friday.

The two boxers, who are set to lock horns in the main fight of the mega Independence Boxing Bonanza on Friday at the Ramatex Hall, yesterday came face to face with each other during a press conference at a local hotel in the capital.

Klassen, who holds a record of 28 wins and 6 losses from 36 fights and is a former international Boxing Federation (IBF) Junior Lightweight world champion, was first to make his intentions clear when he cautioned Moses not to take him lightly as he could cause him severe harm if left unchecked.

“Hitman has a good record and has fought a few guys that I have also beaten but this will be a different fight and I’m ready to give my best. I look short and small but trust me, I walk the walk, talk the talk and nobody can undermine me not even Hitman,” warned Klassen.

At the other edge of the table, Namibian former world champion and current World Boxing Organisation (WBO) International Lightweight champion Moses was cool, calm and collected, saying he has fought the best in the world before and knows very well what is required of him when he faces Klassen.

“I remember when I so desperately wanted to win the world title in 2009 I had to work hard and do everything I could. Like I earlier said, I want to win this fight against Klassen, so I will do what I do best to win the fight.

“I’m in great shape and ready to shine come Friday. I respect Klassen as an experienced fighter but I want to win the fight and thus he must expect nothing but the best from me,” said a confident Moses.

There will also be other attractive undercard bouts to keep spectators on the edge of their seats the entire night.

Tickets are available at Computicket outlets at Shoprite and Checkers stores countrywide. VIP tickets cost N$200 while general tickets sell for N$30.
