Welwitschias, Pumas clash tonight in Vodacom Cup

WINDHOEK – Director of Rugby at the Namibia Rugby Union (NRU), John Williams, is optimistic the Welwitschias will bounce back from last Friday’s 53-3 defeat against the Golden Lions and give Steval Pumas a decent run for their money when they clash tonight at the Hage Geingob Stadium.

Going into their second clash of the Vodacom Cup, the Namibia rugby fifteen the Welwitschias will be expected to show more maturity, determination and the hunger to win, while their overall ball-handling skills will also be expected to be up a notch.

According to Williams, the technical team have been burning the midnight oil in a bid to assure all errors committed in the opening clash are rectified going into tonight’s match.

“We did an overall analysis of our performance against the Lions and saw a few mistakes in some departments. Our scrums and forwards were some of the areas of concern but we made sure everything is fixed on time for our next match and we also worked hard to improve our ball-handling skills, which was something that cost us in the last match,” said Williams.

“I’m positive our boys will stand their ground and show some mettle. The spirit is good and the boys look ready to put up a much improved performance and hopefully get the desired results.”
