WINDHOEK-Next Wednesday, art lovers will relive the latest artworks of the passionate Namibian artist, Barbara Pirron, titled “Inspirationsquelle: Nikrokosmos der Natur” at the Goethe Centre.
This will be the 11th solo exhibition for Pirron after a very long break from the art industry. Her last exhibition “Where Africa and Europe Meet” was in September 2012 at the Katutura Community Art Centre (KCAC). This year, Pirron is back again and will present her latest results containing her 32 newest artworks, predominantly made with water colour and mixed-media-works. Pirron says her initial point of paintings is a special reference to Namibian landscape and nature, which is reflected in the title of her upcoming exhibition.
She says her works do not only show the visible but also portray the landscapes of the soul. “Through my joy of experimentation and search for the essence of nature, during my journeys, numerous outlines were developed which later at the studio become proper paintings. Being creative is an enriching experience – like being in another world,” says Pirron adding that her paintings result from a momentary mood and never from a strict plan. Pirron is Fine Arts graduate from the University of South Africa, Pretoria.
