Shishani joins Namrock line-up

Shishani will be performing at this year’s two day Tafel Lager Namrock Music Festival which takes place on November 29 and 30 at the West Nest Lodge.

WINDHOEK– Shishani is just one of many artists who will be performing at the two day 2013 Tafel Lager Namrock Music Festival, which this year takes place at the West Nest Lodge, 170km from Windhoek, and is being staged over two days on Friday, November 29, and Saturday, November 30.

Shishani is a singer/ songwriter born in Namibia to a Belgian father and a Namibian mother, who  left Namibia at the age of ficve years and grew up in The Netherlands. However, she started her solo career on Namibian soil in 2011. She has won the Last Band Standing Competition in Namibia and has performed at the Windhoek Jazz Festival on more than one occasion, the recent being a fortnight ago. She is an activist who uses her music as a platform to address social issues.

Other bands in this week’s overview, are: Die Motvreters band that play acoustic acoustic rock and was formed in January 2013. They play a variety of covers, ranging from Alice in Chains to Slipknot, as well as originals. The Hunt for Higher Ground is a 3-piece instrumental rock/ metal band hailing from Windhoek. Romulus is a versatile musician who has trained in classical singing, jazz guitar, saxophone and cello. He has performed from Cape Town to Lubango. His current musical repertoire covers most musical genres and utilises a variety of instruments.

The members of Rushour were drawn together by their mutual love for good times and rock music.  Known throughout their neighbourhood for the volume of their rehearsals, the band will be performing a set of originals at Namrock. With their accessible classic rock sound, the band aims to put on a good show and have a good time doing it.

Ray & Taniahave been singing together for more than two  years and will perform a set of original songs written by both musicians. They play laidback, acoustic folk rock and focus strongly on accentuating their sound with carefully constructed harmonies.

The road is tarred all the way to the farm; the last couple of kilometres are a well-maintained farm road. Tickets are on sale at Computicket for N$ 260, which includes entry to the festival and camping for two nights!
