Newly appointed Brave Warriors coach Tom Saintfiet has raised few eyebrows with his final selection of a twenty-member squad to represent Namibia at the annual Confederation of Southern African Football Associations (COSAFA) Senior Challenge Cup in Mpumalanga, South Africa this weekend. There is no place for African Stars’ talented goalkeeper Maxmillian Mbaeva while Civics butterfingered net minder Esau “Pitso” Tjiuoro has been shown the door to pave the way for the return of discarded Abisai “Zico” Shiningayamwe.

The Jomo Cosmos bench warmer has been cold shouldered by the Warriors’ technical staff since his below par performance in Namibia’s opening match in the Africa Cup of Nations finals in Ghana earlier this year.

Orlando Pirates veteran striker Paulus “Wire” Shipanga is another surprise inclusion despite having played a cameo role at the newly crowned MTC Namibia Premier League champions during the just ended season.

Club-less former Morocco Swallows stalwart defender George Hummel has been recalled after falling out with the country’s football authorities over late payments and skillful midfielder Quinton “Magic” Jacobs also makes a quick return to international football following his unceremonious exit during the Warriors disastrous campaign in the 2010 FIFA World Cup Preliminaries.
