Police in the Otjozondjupa Region are appealing to the public to help with identifying the bodies of two people who were burned beyond recognition in a head-on collision some 73 km outside Otjiwarongo on the B1stretch.
According to the spokesperson for the Otjozondjupa Police, Warrant-Officer Regina Maikhudumu, the accident happened last week Thursday at around 18h55.
The two vehicles involved in the accident were a Ford Ranger Double Cab and a truck.
Police say the driver of the pick-up truck with registration number N23OT, hit a kudu and then swerved to avoid an oncoming truck from Okahandja.
The driver’s attempts to avoid a catastrophe were unsuccessful and the pick-up truck rammed straight into the truck. Both vehicles caught fire on impact.
The truck with the registration N2981SH, had two occupants, and both perished.
Whilst the body of the driver of the pick-up was identified, police are yet to identify the driver and an unknown passenger in the pick-up, who might have been offered a lift, said the police.
