Football Club Aziz Kara (FC AK) have one foot in the South African Professional Soccer League (PSL).
Ali Akan’s charges defeated Dynamos by 2 goals to 1 in their semifinal playoff in Giyani yesterday to book themselves a place in the final against Bay United.
FC AK advanced 2-1 on aggregate after the first leg ended goalless in Eldorado last Wednesday, and will now have to beat Bay United for the final PSL berth after they failed to negotiate their way past Maritzburg United for automatic qualification to the PSL.
Bay United beat Hartman Toromba and Efraim Tjihonge’s Black Leopards 2-1 on aggregate after the teams played a 1-all draw in yesterday’s other semifinal.
United won the first leg by a solitary goal and must get past Akan and his Namibian contingent if they are to entertain any hopes of playing in Africa’s richest league next season.
Apart from Akan, FC AK had two other Namibians in their starting lineup in striker Costa Khaiseb and defender Ivan Namaseb, who both played a pivotal role in the club’s victory yesterday.
The other Namibians on the books of FC AK are Rudie Louw, Arnold Subeb, Freedom Puriza and Dumisa Jantze.
