Namibia’s latest addition to the tourism market opened it gates at Onguma last month.
The Fort, situated in Onguma Game Reserve on the eastern side of Etosha, was officially opened by the Minister Lands and Resettlement, Alpheus !Naruseb, at a glittering event with invited guests from the tourism industry, suppliers and the media.
Master of ceremonies for the day, Riaan Potgieter, Chief Executive Officer and founder of Prowealth Group of Companies, said in its very short existence, Onguma – The Fort had the honour of being named as one of the top 30 places to stay in the world by The International Travel and Leisure Magazine. Onguma – The Fort also appears in many coffee table books.
Potgieter said without the vision of Andre Louw (owner of Mowani Mountain Camp) who began with Villa Verdi in Windhoek more than 16 years ago and moved onto various lodges throughout Namibia, the dream of Onguma – The Fort would not be a reality today.
!Naruseb said the official opening of the flagship lodge Onguma – The Fort, marked the end of the first phase of the development plan for the area and the beginning of the second one.?
