Pragmatics of Linguistic – Self

By Chief Ankama

“UNLIKE animals, many of whose responses are innate, much of man’s communicative behaviour evolved independently of his physiology and like the spoken language, it cannot be read without assurance if one is dealing with a new culture or even a subculture one does not know well” (Hall 1981, p. 42).

Hall discusses this in relation to the art of man, his ability to read and understand or decode not only voiced sounds, but also body language of animals and people as they move.?
