With roughly two years to go before the FIFA World Cup in South Africa, Namibia is positioning itself to tap into the opportunities presented by the cup.
Yesterday, stakeholders in the tourism industry under the auspices of the Namibia Tourism Board called a consultative meeting on Namibia’s marketing strategy of the world cup. The Government has availed N$10 million through the Ministry of Environment and Tourism to the NTB for various marketing activities. The money will be disbursed over the two to three years leading to the WC 2010.
The industry met for the first time to deliberate on how Namibia would maximise on these opportunities that are expected to lead to sustained growth in the sector.
