The much publicized independence music show held on Saturday at the Sam Nujoma Stadium was brought to a halt for a few minutes after fans of two rival artists Gazza and The Dogg got involved in a ruckus.
This behaviour by different fans of the two artists has been repetitive at most of the musical platforms.
Lazarus Shiimi, whose stage name is Gazza, said while he was on stage performing rival fans started throwing cans of cool-drinks at his fans.
Fortunately no one was hurt in the wrangle.
Although he regards The Dogg as his competitor, Gazza has on several occasions encouraged his fans to behave.
“I look at him (The Dogg) just like any other person. I have also encouraged my fans to always behave normal, I do not want anyone to be hurt in my name,” Gazza said yesterday.
Gazza scooped six awards at the Sanlam/NBC awards event including that of the Artist of the Year while his opponent managed to get four.
Despite the latest incident in the long-running rivalry, one of the members of the organizing committee Vicky Raimond-Muranda described the show as a huge success with about 4 000 people in attendance.
A total of 359 artists applied to participate in the 17th independence anniversary music show but only 40 made the grade.
The Dogg was not part of the show.
