Two Toddlers Die in Fire


By William Mbangula Oshakati Two children were burnt to death at Omaku village in Uukwaluudhi district on Wednesday, February 7. Omusati police spokesperson Sergeant Linekela Shikongo confirmed this to New Era. The deceased were one-year-old Claudia Johannes Kene and four-year-old Festus Namagumbo Sheetheni. Apparently the mother of the deceased told the police that the children could have been playing with fire since a match was left on the table. She was working in a mahangu field when the incident took place. On February 5, a 21-year-old woman was raped while on her way home. She was threatened with a pistol by the suspect, who is known to her but has not yet been arrested. Shikongo also confirmed an incident of housebreaking at Okondeka location in the Ruacana constituency, where a 28-year-old Angolan national was caught red-handed on February 6 with stolen items worth more than N$1 000.
