By William Mbangula OSHAKATI The Deputy Sheriff of Ondangwa, Eenhana and Opuwo was arrested on Sunday, for allegedly issuing fake public auction documents to car owners. Public Prosecutor Henock Haindobo confirmed to New Era that Japhet Shigwedha (40) appeared in court yesterday. Until late yesterday, the court was deliberating on Shigwedha’s bail application. The charges involve five vehicles purported to have been sold at an auction and given fake documents for registration at NaTIS, police clearance and roadworthi-ness offices. Some of the cars issued with auction documents are either imported but owners do not want to pay prescribed fees, or were reported to have been stolen. Another suspect, Auguste Mutumbulwa (24) who was the secretary in Shigwedha’s office was arrested last week. Bail of N$1 000 was granted on condition that she should not communicate with witnesses and should not visit her work place. Sources told New Era that there are 17 more fraud cases being investigated against the duo by the police and NaTIS.
