SWAKOPMUND - Namibia’s World Boxing Organisation (WBO) International Lightweight champion Paulus ‘The Hitman’ Moses sent out a strong warning to would-be opponents that he is back with a bang, after beating Argentinean challenger Jeremias Castillo, in the main bout of the Champions in the Desert Boxing Bonanza at the Vineta Sports Centre in Swakopmund on Saturday.
In the opening round, Moses started off with some impressive jabs and uppercuts, but the loud-mouth Castillo responded in the same vein though with very little impact.

In the 2nd and 3rd rounds, Moses started demonstrating why he is one of the the best African lightweight boxers in the business as he unleashed a combination of heavy blows that had Castillo on the back foot. Moses upped his tempo and finished stronger in those two rounds.
The 4th and 7th rounds were almost a repeat of the 2nd and 3rd rounds. However, the fight started to gain momentum in the last 5 rounds as the cat-footed Moses outclassed Castillo with an assortment of well-calculated body blows, coupled with a few upper-cuts that left the Argentinean with no option but to resort to holding onto his opponent in a desperate attempt to escape Moses’ merciless punches.
In the dying minutes of the final round, Castillo tried by all means to salvage something from the contest with short-lived attacks, but Moses maintained momentum until the final seconds of the bout to emerge the victor via an unanimous points decision after 12 rounds of heated action.

In the main supporting bout, Bethuel ‘Tyson’ Uushona trounced Tanzanian opponent Said Zungu on points to win their International Welterweight non-title bout over 8 rounds. Wilberforce Shihepo won his 8-round Super Middleweight non-title bout against the clearly out of sorts Udiadia Mwahila from the DRC.
Tito Mwetupunga had his hands full before emerging victorious in his middleweight non-title bout against the hard-punching Zambian opponent Amos Temfuma over 8 rounds. Paulus ‘The Rock’ Ambunda put up a great show in his marathon exhibition bouts against four opponents – Prince Naidjala, Abmerk Shidjuu, Sakaria Lucas and Mathew Kandala.
