WINDHOEK-The Polytechnic of Namibia Hotel School tomorrow night hosts the Namibia Food and Wine Festival with a live concert featuring Jacques Mushaandja and a gala dinner.
Organiser of the festival, Ms Rebekka Hidulika says that the festival aims to enhance the soul, spirit and sense of community with its rich and unique summer dishes paired with excellent selection of wines from Namibian and South African vine yards. The festival will offer stylish individuals who have a desire for good food, wine, and individuals who share an appreciation of elegance lifestyle a day of food and wine extravaganza at the Polytechnic Hotel School premises finishing the day with a black tie gala dinner.
Hidulika, owner of Fusion Restaurant, initiated the event with Thuti Garoëb, a Namibian Executive Chef based in Botswana. “During the day various culinary activities are offered to participants to indulge their inner ‘foodie’ by participating in a multitude of events hosted by true professionals,” says Rebekka. The evening also offers an impeccable premium six course meal dinner with wine by wine connoisseur, Maureen Fiddler of the Wine Bar. The idea is to offset some of the challenges in promoting Namibian cuisines and lack of premium lifestyle entertainment currently lacking in Namibia thereby adding value to the Namibian culinary trade.
The event is sponsored by Seaworks Namibia, Old Mutual Namibia, Shikongo Law Chambers, the Wine Bar, Winedrop Distributors, Venture Publications, The Namibian and Namibia Chamber of Commerce and Industry(NCCI).
The morning session of the event starts at ten O’clock (10h00) till four O’clock (16h00). Entrance to the morning session is N$50 and there are activities such as cooking demonstrations of red meat and seafood and presentations of summer signature dishes by various restaurants in Windhoek such as Que Tapas, Chef's Palace, Fusion Restaurant, the Wine Bar, Windhoek Country Club Resort and Casino.
The evening session starts at half-past six O’clock (18h30) and promises to be a red carpet event with a mouth watering six course dinner, ending the evening with a live concert by the 7-piece Afro fusion band of Jacques Mushaandja.
