WINDHOEK -  An alleged habitual beater of his girlfriends was remanded in custody on September 05 for a second case of attempted murder.

Markus Aubrey was arrested after being out on bail for an                                                    earlier case of attempted murder when he allegedly struck his new girlfriend with a rock on her head sending her to the Intensive Care Unit (ICU).
He was out on bail of N$3 000 for an earlier attempted murder case where it is alleged he had beaten a previous girlfriend, Gloudine van Wyk,  so severely that she had to be hospitalised.

The previous girlfriend objected to him being granted bail saying he had a habit of assaulting her and when she would lay charges against him he would apologise and plead until she dropped the case until she had had it.
In the bail hearing, she testified that the accused had told her that only death would separate them and threatened to kill her and dump her body in a drain. According to her, she broke off the relationship after the last beating.
Aubrey was arrested on September 03 after he assaulted yet another girlfriend and was remanded in prison after his first court appearance on September 05.

That case was postponed to October 26 for the accused to obtain legal aid, while the first case is due to be heard on November 30 after the police have completed their investigation.
Control Prosecutor Arrie Husselman told Magistrate Ingrid Unengo that since the case is one of attempted murder, read with the provisions of the Combating of Domestic Violence Act, the State needs more time to investigate.
The magistrate granted the State’s request and also ordered that the accused or any party representing him may not contact or interfere with the complainant, Gloudine van Wyk.
