The Windhoek Lager Ambassador programme serves as a public platform to identify, profile and celebrate Namibians who have made a name on the global platform and in the process brought pride to Namibia.

The initiative was launched in 2010 in celebration of the NBL’s commemoration of the 20 years of Namibia’s independence that coincided with the commemoration of 90 years of NBL brewing beer in Namibia. There are seven categories to recognise individuals who have excelled in education, sport, arts, health science and technology, conservation, business and community. Previous ambassadors include prominent eye physician Dr Helena Ndume, international award-winning journalist and fighter for freedom of the press Gwen Lister, and Namibia’s youngest-ever nuclear inspector at the International Atomic Energy Agency, Paulus Nangonya.
