OKAHANDJA - The Reit Club Okahandja is to host its popular annual showjumping and dressage tournament this coming weekend starting on Friday.
The absolute highlight for the three-day event will be the FNB Namibia Show Jumping Championships, to be ridden over heights ranging from 90 cm to 1.30 m, while riders and horses will qualify by taking part in three different competitions.
Furthermore, dressage riders can test their skills in the FNB Namibia Dressage Championships in the children, novice and advanced classes, where the main attraction in the event will be the ‘Kür’, where both horse and rider present themselves in perfect harmony. Dressage events will take place in the morning while the jumping competitions take place in the afternoon.
First National Bank, which sponsored the FEI World Jumping Challenge at the end of August, are also the main sponsors for the jumping and dressage championships with more than 85 horses expected to take part this year, making it one of the most popular highlights on the equestrian calendar.
This year there will be a well stocked kitchen and bar available to revive the spirit that used to attract many spectators to the event in the early 70’s. On Saturday night, there will be music to dance the night away.
