The traditional hand over ceremony of a brand new vehicle to the newly crowned Miss Namibia, took place at the Pupkewitz Toyota Showroom yesterday 29 September, when the lovely 21-year-old UNAM student Tsakakna Nkandih received the keys to her silver metallic Toyota Etios.

The hand over was conducted by Etienne Steenkamp (DP Pupkewitz Toyota) in honour of the late Harold Pupkewitz, who always delighted in presenting the newly crowned beauties with their winning car for over the past two decades.

In his absence, and in the spirit of this annual occasion, Steenkamp handed the beauty queen the keys to her prize, at a small press function.

“Thank you Pupkewitz Toyota for giving me my first car, and for this once in a lifetime opportunity, ” said the delighted beauty who was taken for a spin around the block by sales executives, to acquaint herself with the Etios before she drove it out of the showroom floor.

Asked where she will first be heading to with her new car, she replied flashing her gorgeous smile. “I’m going straight home of course, to show it off to my family.”

The 1.5 Toyota Etios five-speed hatch, is the latest four-door run-around offering from Toyota which has replaced the popular Tazz. It comes with all the mod cons befitting a beauty queen, with safety features, modern interior, ABS brakes, air bags, aircon, stylish looks and is priced at N$120 000 with a two year service plan.
