WINDHOEK - What was meant to be an innocent school holiday excursion in Hoffenheim, Germany turned out to be a chance of a lifetime for young Namibian footballer Rolf Beiter.

The highly talented youngster who plies his trade with Sport Klub Windhoek’s (SKW) Under-14 team attended a three-week trial at the Bundesliga giants at the invitation of SC Borea Dresden to showcase his talent during an international youth tournament in Hamburg.

During that particular tourney, he played against the likes of Herta BSC Berlin, Hamburg SV, Hansa Rostock and various Danish teams and made an immediate impression on the Dresden Club talent scouts who subsequently offered the youngster a chance to become a fully-fledged member of their youth squad.  

Olaf will now join his new team in Germany later this month and is scheduled to fly out on the 24th of this month. SC Borea has a hostel on their premises where young Olaf will stay during his internship. The left-footed youngster is the son of former Brave Warriors player and prolific striker with Imawida, Rolf. The youngster has already made headlines during the infant years of his flourishing football career when he played his first U-7 tournament as a 5-year old to become one of the top goal scorers in his age group.  Olaf was born in 1998 and joined the SKW Football Academy in 2008. He was the lead goal scorer in 2005 and 2006, while he also top-scored during the Streethouse League in 2009 and was voted the most advanced SKW player last year. He is currently the captain of the Imawida Under-13 “Golden Boys Generation”, which clinched all major trophies on offer last year.
