WINDHOEK - Bank of Namibia has redesigned its website which now features improved navigation and search functionalities. It also has a new content and graphic design that enhances the reserve bank’s transparency, accessibility and accountability to the public.

The website further incorporates the use of social media channels to promote public understanding of the role of the central bank.

“The central bank recognises the importance of easy access to timely and quality information at all times,” said Bank of Namibia spokesperson Ndangi Katoma. Katoma further says the new website will allow users to familiarises themselves with the functions of the central bank under the relevant tabs with revised and updated contents such as monetary policy, financial stability, financial markets, economic information, currency and banking supervision.

The Bank of Namibia says although the old website had been central to the efforts to carry out its mandate and conduct business in an open and transparent manner, it had some limitations and lagged behind technological advances.

“These include shortcomings such as the website not being user-friendly and difficult to navigate, as well as its ineffective search functionalities,” said Katoma. The old and new websites will run parallel until August 17, and the bank is asking users to make comments and give feedback on the new website.
