WINDHOEK - Namibia’s award-winning boxing promoter Nestor “Sunshine” Tobias, hailed his boxers for a job a well done following last weekend’s spectacular performances during the international boxing bonanza at the Ramatex Hall, which saw Namibia’s top three boxers winning their respective title bouts in convincing fashion.

Tobias expressed satisfaction with the boxers’ overall showing and commitment, saying local boxers have now reached the peak and are ready to take on any credible opponents on offer. He could however, not heap enough praise on local Telecommunications giant MTC, Nampower and Telecom for their timely sponsorships, adding that without their generous support, the event could have remained a mere distant dream. Tobias also used the platform to personally thank the entire nation for its unwavering support and confidence in the abilities of local fighters.

“Not only me, but Namibia proved to the world that we as a country are capable of hosting world class events and I strongly believe we still have a lot to offer in international boxing. It was not easy staging such a high profile event without hiccups, but through determination and devotion, we achieved the impossible and all thanks go to our esteemed sponsors.”

To put his money where his mouth is, the popular boxing promoter threw a surprise party on Monday evening where the victorious boxers, fans and members of the general public mingled freely before being treated to an assortment of barbequed offerings and various other delicacies, while the Haya water of Moag was flowing freely –to the obvious delight of the revelers.
